Theres a fence built around my life
Assembled by daily sins, fears and strife
I'm sure you've also built a fence
Maybe in fear or simple defence?
I began building mine 19 years ago
However it only grew as of recently
As I began constructing this 'thing'
I probably didn't comprehend the pain it'd bring
The foundations of my fence
Started quite brittle and perhaps even shaky
But as it assembled as I grew older
The bricks became stronger and bolder
Eventually as It and I grew
It in simple words blocked my view
I saw not
When His grace swept across the benighted sky
Just as a raised arm in motion
And the sun arose and awoken dawn
The simple signs of Godly notion
Did you see that sign of His boundless lordship?
At the end of each of your tiredsome days
As the raised arm is lowered
Did you realise he had kept you?
Did you feel His love at the realms of your prayer?
When our souls are beatified
As our hearts return to the lord
And return in rising pride?
I felt nothing
I saw nothing
I was nothing
I escaped my mother's womb
Not to build a fence in fear
I was put here to build a door
Maybe even doors for others too
A door to Him
